The Friends of the Cabell County Public Library welcome donations of books or audiovisual materials. All items received through donation find some way to benefit the library. Those materials, which are not already a part of our collection, and are in good condition, will be added to our catalog. All other items that are duplicates or do not fit into the collection are either sold on-line or through the Friends of the Library’s book sales. Money raised from these sales goes towards a number of important projects: including collection development, the acquisition of new machinery, and staff training. The Cabell County Public Library has the final decision in the allocation of donated materials.
If you have a large collection you wish to donate we can arrange for a pick-up. (Call the Main Library and ask for the maintenance department to schedule.) Books can also be dropped off at the loading dock of the main library located in the alley between 4th and 5th Avenue in the 800 block or at any branch library. We can write a receipt for you for the number of books received, but cannot put a value on your donated items. We cannot accept large runs of old magazines. We encourage donations of local history materials such as old school yearbooks or photo collections.
