Cabell County Public Library offers many research tools for all age levels, including books, magazines, scholarly journals, newspapers, microfilm, electronic databases, and a knowledgeable reference staff.
To choose a topic, write a thesis statement, or learn to take good notes, look in the library’s Points of View { link to the ebsco/ point of view} database.
To gather information on a topic, use a variety of up-to-date sources. Younger patrons should remember to check out the great sources on the fourth floor.

For regional or genealogy research, try The James E. Casto Local History Room, where patrons can view old issues of The New York Times and The Herald Dispatch on microfilm, in addition to a wealth of other local and regional history.
The Reference Department staff will give you prompt, courteous service whenever you reach a stumbling block in your research efforts or if you just want help getting started.
