The Cabell County Public Library encourages public and private support through volunteerism, materials donation, and financial contribution.
The Library staff and the Friends of the Library welcome individuals or groups who wish to offer volunteer support. Those who would like to volunteer should visit the Administration offices of the Main Library, where they will find application forms and a listing of positions in varying types of service and branch locations where such services are needed.
The Library accepts donations of materials such as books, audio books, videocassettes, and DVDs. In accordance with Library’s policies regarding the disposition of materials, qualified staff sort and add materials deemed appropriate to our collection and either release the remainder to the Friends of the Library for their periodic book sales or further the donation to other organizations.
The Library recognizes financial contribution as a major source of support. An annual charitable funds program outlining different gift levels with corresponding benefits designed to encourage sustainable giving is being developed for approval by the Board of Directors. The Board has approved already the establishment of The Carnegie Society, honoring the Library’s most benevolent donors.
The Library continues to reach out to the public and private sector for support in many ways, but our annual Gala stands as our primary outreach program to benefit our Endowment Fund. Held the first Saturday each March, the Gala spotlights a particular country/region’s culture and heritage with events, entertainment and a five-course dinner emphasizing the food and wine of that area.
If you would like to support your Library through volunteerism, materials donation and/or financial contribution, please contact us at your convenience.
