Not enough people know that the library is at the forefront of health and fitness awareness.
Why, just a few weeks ago we created a walking track inside the Main Library for a WalkItUp! event. While we haven’t installed treadmills for patrons waiting to use our Internet terminals, we do have a large stock of books and videos designed to aid patrons who desire to raise their level of fitness.
Do you need ideas for healthier eating? We’ve got lots of cookbooks with heart-healthy recipes. The library has tons of books and videos on sports and exercise.
And on Saturday, May 17 at 1 p.m. we’ve got a special program on the booming sport of female fitness and figure training and competition. Candace Layne, an active fitness/bodybuilding/figure competitor and her coach will be at the Library to talk about her sport.
They’ll discuss the standards used in competitions, training techniques, diet, and more. They’ll share stories of famous competitions and competitors. After listening to this program we’re sure you’ll end up admiring the women who devote so much energy, time and effort to achievement their fitness goals.
