Adult Summer Reading Program
This summer we encourage adults to join our adult “Summer Reading Program” (SRP) with the “Ground Breaking Reads” Theme at the main and all branch libraries.
While we are still continuing the “WV Reads 150” challenge, we will follow our SRP with the American Library guidelines in “Ground Breaking Reads” theme. That means our participants will receive even more rewards and programs this summer by joining our SRP, from June4 to August 15.
On January 1, the West Virginia Library Commission started WV Reads 150 challenge program to promote reading in WV. The year-long reading initiative encourages West Virginians to read 150 books in any format (printed book, e-book, downloadable text, etc.) during the course of 2013, West Virginia’s sesquicentennial year. Books must be read between January 1 and December 31, 2013.
All ages and groups can participate – friends, coworkers, book clubs, classmates, seniors, etc. If children are too young to read on their own, kids can have their parents read to them. Families can use their Summer Reading Program reading toward their West Virginia Reads 150 tally.
We are excited to have groundbreaking programs such as displays, digging into your family roots program in our Genealogy workshops, mining and coal industry programs, as well as a closing party on August 15.
