Gaylord Cooper, genealogist extraordinaire, will present another popular workshop on gravestone interpretation at the Main Library on Saturday, March 28, at 1 pm.
Mr. Cooper, a member of Eastern Kentucky Genealogy Associates and President of the Eastern Kentucky Storytellers Guild, will explore what cemeteries and headstones can teach us about family relationships, occupations, religious affiliations, social organizations and causes of death. Things like the placement, composition, size and thickness of gravestones can reveal much information that is useful to people who are eager to learn about their family genealogy.
Mr. Cooper, who holds two certificates in genealogy from Brigham Young University and one from the National Genealogy Society, has published articles on cemetery iconology in regional, national and international magazines.
Registration for this free event is encouraged. Call 304-528-5700. For more information call the Library.
