We are pleased to announce that the library received another two-series grant from the American Library Association and Nextbook to continue the Jewish Literature Series.
The two-series grant will explore the themes "Your Heart's Desire: Sex and Love in Jewish Literature" and "Modern Marvels: Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel."
The discussion series will begin on Sunday, Aug. 24, and will be led by Rabbi David E. Wucher and Professor Matthew C. Wolfe.
The last Jewish Literature discussion on the theme "Demons, Golems, and Dybbuks: Monsters of the Jewish Imagination" will take place on
Sunday, May 18 at 2pm at the Main Library. We will be discussing "Angels in America" by Tony Kushner.
"At a time when many playwrights were thinking small, Kushner crafted a sprawling tapestry unafraid to embrace large political, social, and spiritual themes or to weave the phantasmagoric into everyday life. By invoking ghosts as well as Aramaic texts, this Pulitzer Prize winning epic, full of mordant humor and literary zest, uses its ethnic and sexual specificity to illuminate the American experience."w degree.
