We have all kinds of events on tap for Saturday's big Library Day festivities at the main library. Story-telling. Old-time music and bluegrass. Even ghost hunting! All that's on the schedule, along with food, crafts and games. And you can visit with local authors who will be signing their books.
Some of the best
storytellers from the Appalachian region will provide a couple of hours of great entertainment from 1:30 until 3 p.m.These veteran yarn spinners from the Eastern Kentucky Storytellers Guild are the gold standard by which storytellers are judged. Come judge for yourself!
And don't forget, the Huntington Paranormal Research Group will be giving us the willies from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Are there ghosts walking the streets of Huntington, or does it just seem that way? Come learn the truth.
The world's only Digital Bookmobile will visit from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It's housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer that's seventy-four feet long and weighs 80,000 pounds. It's so big that we're going to block off 9th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues all day Saturday for this event. This monster truck is a high-tech vehicle equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players. Join us for a Friends of the Library Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the CCPL. We encourage you to bring your questions about this group and books to donate to their sales (held the first Thursday through Saturday weekend in February, June, and October).
