In the last week of July, the Library Guy received a letter from Lesly Conde, the Consul General of Haiti, thanking us for raising money and awareness for Haiti. In the letter Mr. Conde thanks us for promoting Haitian culture and compliments our “beautiful souls” for sharing our wealth with his country.
It was the Library Guy’s idea to send a letter describing our Adult Summer Reading program, Help Turn a Page for Haiti, to the Consul General. The program has encouraged reading while raising funds to rebuild the public libraries of Haiti destroyed by the 2010 earthquake. Here is a photograph of the Library Guy with the letter.
We want to thank all of you who participated in this year’s program and especially those of you who donated money. We’re sure the people of Haiti will appreciate it.
