Cabell County Public Library in cooperation with SUPER WHY and WV PBS, will be hosting the SUPER WHY Reading Camp this summer. The SUPER WHY series was created to help children learn to read through interactive story adventures. Taught by Marshall graduate teacher, Rebecca Mazzone, the SUPER WHY Reading Camps are five-day interactive learning adventures that show children the power of reading and motivates them to play with letters, sounds and words through a comprehensive curriculum developed by noted literacy experts. Camp activities will reinforce knowledge through repetition and multiple modes of learning.
There will be 20 children participating in the camp. The class will run from Monday, August 8 through Friday, August 12 from 10:00am-1:30 pm. To kick off the program on the first day of camp, the SUPER WHY characters in costumes will welcome the children and set the tone for five days of learning fun.
This is the first time the Library is offering the reading camp. Since the community response to the program has been enthusiastic, the library hopes to make this camp part of its summer reading program every year.
