This source allows access to thousands of periodicals, journals,
newspapers and other information sources, including pictures
and images. Information modules include general information,
business sources, and health sources. There is a module designed
for children called Searchasaurus. NoveList is also available,
but it is only accessible at the downtown library. EbscoHost
is provided statewide through the West Virginia Library Commission.

Digital
Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970,
provides access to more than 660,000 large-scale maps of more
than 12,000 American towns and cities. In electronic form,
Sanborn Maps take on much improved value over the microfilm
versions of the same maps, allowing for greater flexibility
of use and improved viewing possibilities. Users have the
ability to easily manipulate the maps, magnify and zoom in
on specific sections, and layer maps from different years.
NOTE: If you try to access Sanborn with Internet Explorer 7 or 8, you may encounter an "Invalid card number entered" error message. Sanborn officials suggest this remedy:
1. Restart IE7/8
2. Go to tools and choose internet options
3. Click on the Security tab
4. Click on trusted sites and add your site's domain name (i.e. CABELL.LIB.WV.US) and click add (must uncheck the requires https option)
5. Click ok, and log into Sanborn Maps. |

Express Library is
a collection of practice tests for everything from grade school
proficiency exams to civil service, military and college entrance
exams. Citizenship, cosmetology and law enforcement exams
also are available. Overall, nearly 100 tests! Practice online
and get immediate feedback about your performance. Learning
Express is provided statewide through the West Virginia Library
Commission. NOTE: If you are a first-time user, you need to register an account by going to wvinfodepot.org and a link to Info Depot. Once there, you then click the Learning Express link there. of local and regional news from the Herald Dispatch, including
obituaries. Paid advertisements are excluded. This includes
articles from 1999 to the present time. In addition Newsbank offers stories from the Logan Banner from December 2006 to the present.
