Trouble Viewing Our Site with Internet Explorer 6.0.2?

Several patrons have told us that they are not seeing any graphics on our site when viewing it through Internet Explorer 6.0.2 with Service Pack 1. (This is the latest version of the browser, which comes re-installed on a number of new computers.)

The problem appears to be in some of the default settings used in this new version of IE. Fortunately, they're easily fixed. Here's how:

1. Load your Internet Explorer 6 as usual.
2. Click the Tools option on the menu bar at the top of the screen and select Internet Options from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on the Advanced tab of the resulting screen and scroll the alphabetized list of settings.
4. Under HTTP Settings, if there is a check mark next to "Use http 1.1," remove it.
5. In the next section, called Microsoft VM, make sure there is a check mark next to "Java console enabled" and a check mark also next to "Java logging enabled."
6. Exit Internet Explorer and restart your computer.
7. Re-load your browser and visit the site again.
